Pam will share her love of both antique and scrap quilts, which have inspired these traditional designs with a vintage flair. Pam's PIECE BY PIECE offers quilt patterns and small projects that appeal to all levels of quilt makers. These patterns feature detailed instructions and illustrations, easy enough for even novice quilters to achieve success! Most of the quilt designs include a variety of sizes. Pam will demonstrate the Tri-Recs Ruler used in her Prairie Moon Pattern.

MACHINE BASICS

 

Know your Sewing Machine

Have a sewing machine but don’t know how to work it. Bring in your
sewing machine and its accessories to this training class. You will learn
the proper way of threading your sewing machine, winding your bobbins,
changing stitch width and length. You will also learn how to properly
clean and maintain your sewing machine.

QUILTING BASICS



Beginning Quilting

Have the desire to learn to Quilt? Learn the basic skills for machine piecing in this 5-week class. Using Alex Anderson’s book Start Quilting, you will learn the tools & how to correctly use them, choosing fabrics and construct a small Sampler quilt. 4 student minimum

A Taste of Quilting

One- 5 hour session $25.00 includes kit
Wet your appetite for quilting with this introductory class.
You will make a 16 inch throw pillow. Learn basic block construction,
sashing, quilting, and pillow construction.
This is a great follow-up class to Learn your Sewing Machine and/or the Easy Pillowcase.

Beginning Machine Quilting

Learn the art of machine quilting, Learn to use walking foot, perform free motion quilting. We will go over pinning, marking, batting and quilting tools. Learn the basic skills of machine quilting. Please know how your sewing machine functions. Bring your machines manual to class.

Perfect Pillowcase

Want to learn to sew? This is a great way to start. Come learn some basic sewing skills and make a pillowcase. These pillowcases have totally enclosed seams. This method is fast and easy; you will complete a pillowcase in class.

Fusible Machine Appliqué

Introduction to MACHINE APPLIQUE
In this beginner’s how-to class, you’ll learn techniques for fusible machine appliqué. It’s fast, easy, and you’ll take home a finished tea towel project. Topics include tools and supplies, preparing the appliqué shapes, and using blanket and zigzag stitches, This is a technique you’ll use often to create beautiful quilting, gift and home décor projects!
BEFORE CLASS IT IS REQUIRED YOU KNOW HOW TO SET UP YOUR MACHINE for Zig/Zag & Blanket Stitch.

Learn the tricks and secrets of accurate paper piecing as you stitch up this 4 block sampler. By learning the basics, you’ll have the skills to approach the foundation pieced project of your choice.

Great ready for Memorial Day & 4th of July with this bargello flag.
You will learn the following techniques, bargello piecing, flip and sew, and curved binding. This looks harder than it really is. Mardi will instruct you throughout the project.

Join the fun and use up some scrap fabric. You will end up with a beautiful quilt. Easy to piece, this class is great for the beginner quilter and for those of us with lots of fabric scraps. NO Scraps??? No worry Allie has lots.

Scrappy Batik Quilt

One – 4 Hour Session
Make this fun quilt with batik scraps or other scraps. Register for the class and bring a friend for ½ price. Then you can exchange fabrics to make it scrappier. There is necessary pre-class preparation. This quilt can be made any size.

Using an array of fabrics, create four stunning bargello placemats. Class will cover construction, quilting and finishing and you will leave with skills to help you create beautiful bargello patterns in the future!

3-D Flower in a Square

Have fun manipulating squares into a seam to make the flower petals for this 3 D textural creations. Beads or buttons can be added for decorative embellishment.

Christmas Scrap Bag Group Mystery

Celebrate Christmas in July and get ready to make a great looking quilt. Grab your reds, greens, and Christmas print fabrics. Join others in this fun “grab bag” quilting experience, sharing fabrics and lots of fun.

 Make handcrafted fabric beads by designing your fabric with a variety of mixed-media techniques, such as foiling, painting, and stamping, Then make your beads and embellish them with fibers, ribbons, Angelina, crystals and more to create one-of-a-kind jewelry. This class is for quilters with a stash of scraps, a wearable artist or a jewelry maker.

Using pattern B.Y.O.B (bring your own bag) by Penny Struges, you’ll be “going green”. This is a super simple bag great for the beginner. You’ll make lots of these to take not just to the grocery store but where ever you might be shopping.

Flying Geese Tote Bag

Learn the speed piecing technique good for making several Flying Geese units. In this class you will learn the process for making four flying geese at a time. Mardi will provide all the instructions for this great tote bag.

Simply Your Table Runner

Three- 2 - 2 1/2 Hour Sessions $25.00 includes instructions
Marion has designed a basic table runner with an open center. You decide what appliqué’ design you want to make the focus of your runner. This table runner can be made for any season. The sample is made with a beautiful floral design. Basic appliqué’ knowledge is recommended.

Open Sew Days FREE
Summertime means the classroom is Open! We have the space, air conditioning. We are happy to offer this opportunity for you to bring in your unfinished projects and are here to help in any way we can. This is a great time to just come and sew and enjoy your day, with no interruption from your daily activities that distract your creativity.
Bring your WIPS (works in progress), finish a class project or start a new one; stitch, sew and socialize while completing that project.
Pre-registration is required so we can make sure you have ample space.
